Permanent Magistrate (常任裁判官) or simply Magistrate is a judicial officer duly appointed by the Chief Executive.

Principal Magistrate (主任裁判官) is the chief of the Magistrates’ Courts. In additional to the typical Magistrate duties, the Principal Magistrate also acts as in supervisory aspects in the administrative and judicial affairs for the Magistrates’ Courts.
