MOMENT OF INERTIA?

The four particles shown below are connected by rigid rods of negligible mass where y1 = 6.30 m. The origin is at the center of the rectangle. The system rotates in the xy plane about the z axis with an angular speed of 6.50 rad/s.Calculate the moment of inertia of the system about the z axis (in kg m2).

    I = ΣM*R^2

    = R^2*ΣM

    = (3.15^2 + 2^2)*(3 + 2 + 2 + 4)

    = 13.9225 * 11

    = 153.1475 kg.m^2
