foreign debt issue

i signed a contract with the accommodation office in UK which states that i am subject

to pay the living cost for the whole academic year.

however, due to personal issue i dropped out and left for hk in the midst of the academic year, so i paid for the living cost till the date i left.

hence, they asked me to pay the remaining accommodation fee through international collection agency.

do you consider it has the legimate right to collect the foreigh debt (if it were) in hk?

更新:

what happens if i choose not to pay it?

更新 2:

just wonder are you a lawyer or did you receive any legal training ?

besides, you are also specialised in advicing migration, would you tell me how to get the "green card" without resorting to the kinds of method such as lottery and/or marriage to a US citizen ?

thank you.

更新 3:

i just forgot that my wife is a Canadian citizen, holding a valid Canada passport. How could I, a HK-born citizen, apply for a Canadian citizenship ?

更新 4:

haha, of course, if you are a lawyer, then you should charge me some consultation fee for your legal advice.

anyway, thank you.

    In your case, especially yes.

    Foreign debt collection is always a complicated issue due to differences in law.

    However, in this case, your debt is originated from the U.K., which is also the origin of the law in Hong Kong. So the legal dispute will be very minimal.

    It is only a matter of time that you will end up paying.

    The collection agency is going to sue you - It can start in the U.K. or Hong Kong. But it will definitely end up in Hong Kong.

    Since you breached the contract, the agency is going to win with all legal fee.

    In that case, if you still refuse to pay, the agency will file for bankruptcy against you.

    You will be in financial and legal mess eventually.

    1. I am not a lawyer. (Seriously, if I was a lawyer, I would have asked all of you to come to my "firm" to have a consultation and made some consultation money.)

    I did not receive any legal training other than those related to my previous work (not a law firm) or my degree (not a law degree).

    Nevertheless, there are 3 methods left:

    a. Sponsored by your qualified relative;

    b. Sponsored by your employer;

    c. Qualified investment

    3. You can't. In your case, your route has to be as follow:

    Immigration to Canada > Stay in Canada at least 3 years > Naturalization
