Dear Diary need not be the beginning:-

An Example:

saying that something happened:-There was a knock at the door.My Ex father came back;

describing something that is happening:-eg:-

describing the scene or situation. Present participle used:-eg:-Shouting came out.Raging outside;Neighbourhoods watching/working in the streets with curiosity !

Verb agreement eg:-There were two in the room only.A list of items suitable need be counted.A lot of people gathered.

"there "with other verbs:-eg:-There seems to have been some serious shouting then!

There happened to be a roll of strings hanging on the window leading to the streets .

Formal and literary uses:-eg:-something exists or happens uses there eg:-

there remained the matter between them.

There followed a great deal of imagination in the old newspapers.

There comes a time when I want to write a diary like "Anne Frank's Diary". There comes a time when I have to make a choice between job and studies.

You need not end your diary with Love but with loneliness and luck.
