Most home pregnancy test kits work in the same manner but they are not created equally. Some test kits are much more sensitive than others, so read the fine print before making a decision.
The majority of pregnancy tests sold over-the-counter will consist of either a dipstick or plastic strip. The end of the dipstick or strip is placed in the urine for five to 10 seconds, depending on manufacturer’s directions.
Within a specified time, the dipstick or strip will display the results, often with a plus/minus sign or a color change. Some test will digitally display the words “pregnant” or “not pregnant.”
