The inclusion of English language is a core subject in the Current Secondary School Curriculum. Nonetheless ,I started learning English from primary school and has hated this subject ever since but there is no denying that my English language learning experience at Secondary school bring about many improvement to me also changed my attitude toward learning English.
I learnt English through the mother-tongue education when I studied in primary school. I am accustomed to rely on Cantonese to understand the content of English lessons. My reading skill was so poor as a result of this. However, English-tongue education is adopted in my secondary school. I found that it was difficult to adapt for me. It is because both lessons and activities require using English to teach and explain. For example, all notice, association’s board and teaching material are in English. Admittedly, it was an opportune time for me to compel myself to improve English .Under the new mode, it enhanced my overall ability of English, comprehension skill especially obvious.
However, one of the most striking problems of my secondary school is that lack of discussion time in the lessons for students. Oral secession was always ignored. For this reason, I was lack of confidence to express myself thus I always fail in the examination.
Last summer holiday in my secondary school. I have joined a foreign English summer camp which is organized by my secondary school. In this camp, most of the group members are foreigners and the aim of this camp was exchanging our culture through different game. Ina short time, it became much more funny and less foreign. I forgot my fear especially of speaking .It forced me to try harder that I have specified previously.
In order to keep improving my English ability , using Moodle E-learning System must be a good approach for me at HKCC. I can make revision anytime and anywhere; it also keeps pace with the time and continue to strengthen myself.
