On hand vs in hand

What is the difference between on hand and in hand?

When will they be used respectively?

    (similar inmeaning意思相近)→ (in hand= on hand) inhand =手上, 在手頭; 可供使用(的) (如時間、金錢) inone’s possession and ready to be used or done e.g. I still have some money inhand; cash in hand £28.26; e.g. As the matter in hand wasurgent, we dealt with it at once. Istill have £10 inhand after paying the bill. on hand 手邊(有... 事物; 手頭 (有事做) available; 現有 (隨時可用) = available, especially to help= e.g. Always have your dictionary onhand when you study. Jim had no cash on hand to pay for the gas. I asked the grocer what kinds of canned meat he had on hand. I have a great deal of important work on hand. I always like to keep a certain amount of money on hand,in case of an emergency. When the meeting finished at 3:30pm, we had still almost an hourin hand before our trainleft.
