The (Definite Article) -說明一些特定的事物.
A,An (Indefinite Article) - 不是說明一些特定的事物.
或是有其他分法
當中The dog runs.
The dogs run.
有何分別.. s點解咁加._.''

也有,例如特殊的名稱,E.G. The New Town Plaza, The Nile River
當中The dog runs. (the在這是指特定某一隻狗在跑,因為你只有一隻狗,名詞(狗)屬於單數,所以名詞dog不用加s但動詞run要加s )
The dogs run.(the在這是指一大班狗在跑, e.g. the people一大班人1, the chengs一大班姓張的人; 名詞(狗)屬於雙數,所以名詞dog要加s但動詞run不用加s)
