Since "need to" is common in both sentences, your structure should look like:

I need to [ play badminton and meet new friends ].

I need to [ not only play badminton, but also meet new friends ].

If your sentences have different verbs, for example:

    * I need to play badminton.

    * I want to meet new friends.

    The construct is different:

I [ need to play badminton and want to meet new friends ].

I [ not only need to play badminton, but also want to meet new friends ].

And if you want to repeat the subject:

Not only do I need to play badminton, but I also want to meet new friends.

**Note that when a sentence starts with "not only", you need to invert the verb (I need >> do I need).

Not only I need to play badminton, but also meet new friends.

I not only need to play badminton but also need to meet new friends.

but it is quite strange, it is better for u to state the relationship between playing badminton and meeting friends.
