請問有關文法和lift,late的用法

Competition should beat the price down

Competition should beat down the price

請問兩句有沒有分別 ? 那些時候用那句較好 ?

The ban on naked short selling is lifted.

請問lifted 為什麼不是解除 ban,而是實行 ban ?

另外.請問late怎分,幾時是指最近,幾時是指晚期.例如late friday 係最近

星期五,late afternoon 係傍晚

Competition should beat the price down – this is complete sentence and it can stand by itself. (This sentence can also be followed by another phrase at the back)

Competition should beat down the price – this is also a complete sentence but it is usually followed by another phrase / clause at the end.

請問兩句有沒有分別 ? No, there is no difference.

The ban on naked short selling is lifted.

請問lifted 為什麼不是解除 ban,而是實行 ban ? – this is a phrasal verb, we always use “lift” that means the “ban’s” standard is lifted higher.

    另外.請問late怎分,幾時是指最近,幾時是指晚期.

例如late friday - this does not mean “nearest”, but “late at night” = 傍晚 (most of time it means even later)

你肯定 'lift' 可以解成 '實行' ? 我查過2本字典 'lift' 於 [laws] / [rules] / [restrictions] (凡有涉及限制的意思) 都只能解成'解除'. 你是在哪裡看到的? 有沒有上文下理連貫? 可否提供多些資料?
