A musical nite is produced by a vibrating string.

Compare the waves produced when a string is flicked to sound waves in air.

    wave in the string is

    1) transverse

    2) standing / stationary

    3) energy is not transmitted to others

    wave in air is

    1) longitudinal

    2) travelling

    3) energy is transmitted to surroundings
