    The answer is C. (1), (3) and (5) only.

It is because cuticle of leaf, bones and retina of the eye contains living tissues and living cells. So, they have to take in oxygen and take out respiration. This releases energy for living.

Please be noted that bones will grow. So it is a living tissue.

Xylem vessels are made of dead cells. So no respiration takes place there. And this choice is a wrong one.

Enamel of the tooth is made of minerals and organic compounds. However, it is not a living tissue. So, no respiration takes places.

Does respiration really take place in cuticle which is non-living??

In fact, cuticle is just the waxy substances secreted by the epidermal cells.

How can it carry out respiration?
