if you lose 3500 cal is 1 lb fat, so if you keep exercise every day 40 mins around spend 350-400 cal...if you dont on diet,maybe can lose 3-4 lbs a month.
But if you exercise with diet together, eat 1000cal and less then 60 g fat a day, then you can lose 6-10 lbs a month.
I had go GYM 6 times a week and each time 1 hour and keep on diet, I lose 15 lbs in 2 months, lose all is fat ...over 2 year until now didnt gain weight.
Keep exercise everyday and eat healthy,even not on diet still can keep fit.
