A) Simple Sentence 單句
所謂單句, 只包括一個主詞和一個動詞
e.g.
The soldiers fought bravely. ( 士兵勇敢地作戰 )
Bring me some water. ( 拿給我一些水 )

B) Compound Sentence 合句
合句包括兩個或以上相等的子句, 而由對等連接詞所連接者
e.g.
The bell rang AND the students dispersed.
Wool is warm BUT silk is beautiful.
Get up early, OTHERWISE you will be late for school.
PS 合句也有用分號 ( ; ) 連接者
e.g.
He does not know me; so he can't borrow money from me.

C) Complex Sentence 複句
複句包括一個主要子句 ( Principal / Main Clause ) 以及一個或以上的從屬子句 ( Subordinate Clause ), 而由從屬連接詞所連接者
e.g.
It is later THAN you think.
The supply is rationed SO THAT everyone may have a share.
The girl WHO wears the white dress is Mary.
PS 凡是由從屬連接詞開頭的子句都是從屬子句, 另一個子句就是主要子句
