If you want to ask which comic strip in Chinese history has never died out, has been on the comic sales ladder for a long time, and has became a part of the international Chinese society, undoubtedly it is Alfonso Wong's "Old Master Q".

Mr. Wong was originally named Wang Jia Xi, born in Tianjin. He studied Western art at Beijing Catholic University, and later resided permanently in Hong Kong. He was responsible for drawings in bibles for a French Catholic missionary there, and also the art editing in the church's magazine "Le Feng Bao". Besides working, he drew comics.

In 1962, Mr. Wong used his eldest son's name Wang Ze as a pen-name for his comic "Old Master Q", which was loved by many readers. In 1964 the series "Old Master Q, Mr. Qin and Big Potato" was published, and since the emotions and movements of the characters were very lively, the content was humorous, which has kept it selling up to now. The comic "Old Master Q, Mr Qin and Big Potato" is known in every household, by the old and young, and has grown up with you and me together, becoming a common amusing memory in our minds.

Mr. Wong has six sons, all of whom have his artistic genes. The eldest son Wang Ze (Joseph Wong) is a professor of architecture. In 1995 Wang Ze assisted his father in establishing the "WangZ Comic Studio" in Tapei, Taiwan. In 2000, Wang Ze and other friends who had the same objectives established "WangZ Inc", further promoting the publishing of Old Master Q, its image, branding and copyright projects. This takes the humorous "Old Master Q" comic into a new century with new dimentions, hoping to bring happiness to more old, middle-aged, teenage and young Chinese and foreigners.
