tough 可以話係好「硬」，但係唔係代表 tough 同 硬係同一樣嘢。

eg:

個人好 tough 可以代表佢係一位好硬淨嘅人。唔係咁容易 "女" 低，會好正面咁去面對問題。"Don't worry about her, she is tough, she can handle it."

但係用喺上師嘅話：「我個上師好 tough」代表你上師要求好高，好難先可以 impress 都佢。"I have to work harder, my boss is very tough."

如果用喺一份工嘅話。代表份工好有難度。好有挑戰性。"This is a tough job, not everyone can handle it"

用喺食物上面嘅話可以話係好「un」，好難咬。「件牛排好 tough」代表件牛排好"un"好難咬。"This steak is too tough, can i exchange it for something else?"
